Remaining stains, detergent residue or a stale smell can be down to usage, or a sign of a heating or draining fault.

Possible causes

  • Overloading stops clothes from moving
  • Wrong detergent or wrong dose
  • Not heating to the set temperature
  • Weak draining leaving dirty water
  • Residue inside the drum and gasket

Safe first checks you can do

Safety: unplug the appliance and close the water tap before any check, and never open the outer casing or electronic boards yourself.
  1. Load the drum to about three quarters
  2. Run a drum-clean programme monthly
  3. Clean the detergent drawer and filter
